President - Don Monroe I am a Native Albertan through and through. Born and raised in Edmonton; I saw the light in 1973 and have been a true Calgarian ever since. I started with the City of Calgary in 1999; and have enjoyed working in the Roads Maintenance department. I have always been an activist; however; I did not become actively involved with the Union until 2008. First as a Job Steward; then; in the spring of 2009 I was elected Vice-President. I also sit on the OH&S and Trades Committees. I recently applied and was awarded the the honor of serving on the Aboriginal Council with CUPE Alberta. I have been extremely grateful for the opportunity and support the membership has shown me. I always have the membership's best interests at heart. My only regret is that I should have moved to Calgary earlier in life. In Solidarity, Your President, Don Monroe I can be reached in the office at 403-269-5333 or by email at president@cupe37.ca |

Recording Secretary - Elizabeth Tweedale I was born and raised in the 'not so far east' Saskatchewan. We farmed just South of Saskatoon. My first exposure to politics was many a gathering of fellow farmers and neighbors around the kitchen table discussing political issues. My Father was a councilor for the R.M. for many years and one of my brothers (I have four) also held that position for a number of terms. Our home was the Post Office for years until we received a Rural Route system. I came home from the hospital with the Mailman (no, I do not look like HIM) it was March and bad roads but he always made it through. Life on the farm was a fun and busy childhood bestowing in me a very strong sense of community. No matter who it might be, you always helped them out of the ditch. Moved to Saskatoon for a brief time to work and then off to Vancouver for a year and to Calgary in 1974 and here since with the exception of a one year stint in Cold Lake. Have kept busy with marriages (yes plural) various employments and most important having three children now grown. Been employed with the City since 1991. Soon after I became a City employee also became a Job Steward with CUPE Local 37. As time progressed, and time allowed, I became further involved. Now I am pleased to sit on the Executive Board. My sense of community has not wained, I have always been involved in some type of volunteer work. Anything political is of interest to me. I will strive to support the Local and CUPE to the best of my ability. You can reach me at 269-5333, or by e-mail at recordingsecretary@cupe37.ca |

Treasurer - Chad Ennis Hello CUPE 37 members! I would like to start off by thanking you all for your overwhelming support in the March 2008 elections when I was elected Treasurer. I have been working with the City of Calgary since April of 1999 in the Waste & Recycling department. I started out in garbage collections, and soon after moved into the weigh scale at the East Calgary landfill. I started attending union meetings regularly after my first year with The City and began noticing the unprofessional image of the Local. I became involved hoping to improve that image. Currently, the Local is heading in a very positive direction and I will strive to continue the progress and bring the Local to exciting new heights. I encourage all Local 37 members to become more involved with the Union, as this will ensure future successes. I look forward to providing all CUPE 37 members with an exceptional level of honesty, dedication and hard work as your newly elected Treasurer. I value your comments, questions and concerns and urge you to phone me at the office if you are in need of my assistance. You can reach me at 269-5333, or by e-mail at treasurer@cupe37.ca |
