Dear Sisters and Brothers,
Job Evaluation Project
The Committee, made up of Union and Management met for two weeks in August and will reconvene the week of September 20, 2010. Over the next few months they will be reviewing over 320 jobs that our Members do.
Bargaining
The Bargaing Survey results are in and will be reviewed by your Bargaining Committee; which is made up of your top seven table officers. On September 16, 2010, at the Calgary Dream Centre, the Ratification of Proposals Meeting will be held and this is where Members have the opportunity to have their say. Local 37 will continue to work closely with the Coalition of Civic Unions, in Calgary and in Edmonton as well, to ensure that we achieve the best Collective Agreement for our Members.
Civic Elections on October 18, 2010
Take some time to become informed about the candidates who are running for office. Attend a candidate forum or follow the news and newspaper reports. The questions you need to ask are if these candidates are just saying what they think we want to hear, or do they actually have an action plan that they will be able to follow through with. You will also find information on the website "calgaryvoters.ca" after September 20, 2010; this is when all of the candidates will have submitted their nomination papers. Remember as Civic Employee's, this is an opportunity to elect our bosses.
In Solidarity,
Kevin Galley
President
